Pompeii Wine tour

You will meet your driver at the Hotel and making your way to the archeological site of Pompeii. leaving the Hotel you will reach the highway driving for a Pompeii wine tour and a visit of Pompeii.

You will admire a stunning view of the bay of Naples and the  Mount Vesuvius, an active volcano, last eruption was in March 1944, on the opposite site you will enjoy the view on the entire bay of Naples, with its islands: Capri, Ischia and Procida and the Sorrento Peninsula. Our first stop of our Tour of Pompeii will be Pompeii, the ancient Roman city destroyed by a terrible eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79AD.

Here you will see the remains of the city and its highlights: the Forum with all the public buildings,the Curia, the Basilica, Apollo's Temple, the Eumachia Building, the Macellum; the original roads with shops and houses, the Theater, the Lupanare, preserved stuccoes and mosaics and you will not miss the plaster casts of the victims, caught in their last moments. After the visit, the Tour of Pompeii continues to a vineyard at the foot of Mount Vesuvius for a light lunch in a beautiful panoramic terrace where you can taste the food and the wines of the area and finish with a distilled grappa of apricot. The area is famous for wine tour since the Roman times, when they built farm houses all around the mountain.

The combination of the geologic conformation of Vesuvius slopes, the rare characteristics of volcanic soil and a marvelous microclimate make the territory one of Italy’s most interesting viti-cultural areas,. The Lacryma Christi, (literally "tears of Christ") is the name of the wine produced here. According to the legend when Lucifer and the fallen angels were cast out from heaven, they grabbed a piece of it as they were forced to leave. As Lucifer fell, chunks of paradise landed on Mt. Vesuvius. When God saw what had happened, he cried. His tears became vines on the slopes of the volcano.
After lunch and wine tour  your driver will take you back to the hotel.
